Class Research Questions:

  • How are prime, composite, and square numbers similar and different? 
  • How does one locate the square root of a square number? 
  • How does prime factorization help identify prime factors?

    • explain the difference between prime and composite numbers
    • use the prime factorization process

  • Key terms- prime number, composite number, square root, square number, prime factorization, and Sieve of Eratosthenes
  • Composite numbers can be divided evenly by numbers others than 1 or itself
  • Prime numbers can be divided evenly by 1 or itself.
  • The number 1 is neither prime nor composite
  • The square root of a number is a value, that when multiplied by
